Exploring Kent’s Wildlife: A Photographer’s Journey

My name is Quentin Moss and I am lucky enough to live in Kent, the Garden of England. I am surrounded by beautiful open spaces to walk and capture pictures of our diverse UK Wildlife, thank you for being here.

My Wildlife Photography journey started on a lunch walk shortly after COVID and shops had started to reopen. In my local secondhand shop I spied a Canon DSLR and Kit lens and thought it would be nice to photograph birds in my garden; little did I know how much and how quickly that would snowball into becoming an absolute passion of mine.

I slowly upgraded my kit as funds allowed and started to realise how refreshing for the soul it is to be immersed in nature. I absolutely adore the wildlife species we have right on our doorstep, no matter where you live in the UK there are some truly remarkable animals and birds to behold.

My main style of photography is opportunistic, preferring to walk a path or trail rather than be sat in a hide waiting. I pride myself in my photography skills being organically developed; all self taught.

I urge each and every one of you to find time in your day to Stop, go outside, no matter how brief and listen, breathe and enjoy our Great Outdoors.

Did You Know?

The furthest migratory bird known to visit Kent, UK, is the Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea). This remarkable bird breeds in the Arctic regions and undertakes one of the longest migrations of any animal, traveling from its breeding grounds in the Arctic to wintering areas in the Antarctic. During these migrations, Arctic Terns can cover distances of over 70,000 kilometers (about 43,500 miles) in a single year, passing through various locations, including Kent, during their journeys.
